The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is a professional organization that connects students, faculty and professionals to the aerospace industry, through conferences, trips, competitions, and outreach opportunities. One of the most popular and bigget events the ISU chapter puts on annually is the AIAA fall industry trip, in which students to travel around the country to tour various industries in the aerospace field. This helps the student to make connections with aerospace professionals, introduce students to different areas of aerospace, and allow them to find their passions and their niche in the aerospace profession. We take around 15 students to a new location every year, and explore all sides of aerospace; aviation, space, defense, energy, logistics, and more. In 2016 we went to Los Angeles to tour SpaceX, NASA, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin Skunkworks. In 2017 we went to Texas to tour American Airlines, Rockwell Collins, Air Traffic Control, Aviall, Boeing Global Vision Center, and Lockheed Martin’s F-35 manufacturing plant. This year we plan to go to Seattle, industries are still being determined.
ISU AIAA is committed to providing all of our members with this unique opportunity. To prevent members from being deterred by high trip fees and costs, we are seeking $4,000 to be used for trip expenses. We believe that the youth of our nation is the future of our nation, as one day college students will become industry leaders. We are proud to provide them the opportunity to be connected to industry, and we greatly appreciate your support in the future of aerospace! #shapeourfuture
