The Grand Finale!

November 30, 2021

After only 30 short days together, we have raised 226% of our goal with your help! That is $ 11,333 compared to our $5,000 goal. It has been an amazing experience from our side watching all the support come in from all over the midwest, people rallying behind the EWB-ISU chapter as we serve the Ullo community.

So we want to take the time to thank you! We thank each of you for your contribution because every dollar has brought us closer to our vision for the Ullo clinic.

Also, thank you to the anonymous donor who matched $ 5000 with a 1 to 1 gift, increasing the impact of all those who gave this past month towards the Ullo clinic project.

Along the way, we have enlisted the help of many knowledgeable parties that will exponentially increase the impact and sustainability of the Ullo Clinic. Some of these parties are EWB-KNUST chapter, Self-help International, the Catholic Diocese of Waa, and the local chiefs and leaders.

Together we can make a lasting impact on the healthcare trajectory of the Ullo region.

Medaase,

(Thank you in Ghanian)

We have made it to 85% of our goal already!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us.

So how is EWB moving forward to implement the clinic?

This winter, we will be sending 7 EWB members to Ghana to further our projects with the Ullo community. Some of the tasks this team will be accomplishing while in Ghana include testing/monitoring the water distribution system, determining readily available materials for kitchen stoves, investigating better storage procedures to decrease post-harvest loss for the shea nut project, constructing the 2nd phase of the Rainwater Catchment project, pre-implementation activities for Phase 1 of the Clinic, as well as gathering feedback from the community for our multiple projects.

This trip will be the culmination of assessing old projects and implementing new projects. That is a lot to cover in just a few weeks, so to maximize the impact of EWB's trip to Ullo this winter, each travel team member is in charge of specific aspects of this trip. Today we will be introducing: Libby Mullican, Matt Dunning, and Matt Butler.

Libby Mullican

My name is Libby Mullican, and I am a Junior in Civil Engineering. I have been a part of EWB for 2.5 years. I've been involved with the Water 2.0 team and have served as Social Chair and VP of Membership. I am representing the Water team for the clinic and will serve as the team photographer.

I'm looking forward to interacting with the community. I am super grateful and excited to represent EWB-ISU in Ullo and maintain a strong relationship between our groups.

Matt Dunning

My name is Matthew Dunning, and I'm a senior in Environmental Engineering. I've been in EWB for five semesters now. I started in the clinic power group and became the VP of Programs starting January of 2021. I also helped start the sustainable development group in the spring of 2021. I am the logistics person on the team in charge of understanding clinic sanitation. There are many reasons I am excited to travel, but I am most looking forward to the food.

Matt Butler

My name is Matt Butler, and I am a sophomore in Global Resource Systems. This is my 2nd year in EWB. Since I started in the club my first semester, I have been a part of the Rainwater Catchment and Irrigation subteam, including as the group's project manager for the last two semesters. This upcoming trip, I will be heading up the implementation of phase 2 of the Rainwater Catchment and Irrigation system, including connecting previously implemented rain gutter and tank system to a below-ground cement tank for storage burying pipe that leads to an irrigation system in the school garden. I am most excited to get fully immersed in another culture and see the club's impacts on the community firsthand!
