Cyclone Rocketry 2023 Fundraising Campaign Launch

March 23, 2023

Thank you for your support of our 2022 fundraising campaign! We couldn't have done it without you.

We are announcing our 2023 campaign!

Every year we design, build, and fly high-powered rockets for international competition. For as little as $10, you can aid Cyclone Rocketry in our mission to provide extraordinary hands-on engineering experience to Iowa State students. Funds raised in the next four weeks will support manufacturing costs, competition fees, and travel. We are offering donor benefits this year, including a team photo, a personalized thank-you letter, your name on the rocket fin, and your name on a workspace plaque.

Check out the 2023 project at https://fundisu.foundation.iastate.edu/CyRocket23.

Thank you! To the Cup!

CyRoc Update 3/2/22

March 02, 2022

Hello Cyclone Rocketry family, friends, members, and alum -

2022 has already been a dynamic and exciting year for the club. We have dedicated ourselves to IMPERATOR, our rocket that will compete in Spaceport America Cup this upcoming summer. Our stated goal is to win our division of 10K SRAD (apogee of 10,000' AGL, powered by a Student Researched and Developed motor).

We finalized the rocket design last semester, which was presented at the Critical Design Review in December. The team has been hard at work this semester making the designs a reality. Below are some recent photos:

Adhy faces the fixture plate before manufacturing a bulkhead

Aerostructures members Noah and Sam fabricate a carbon fiber coupler

Cole and Mitch prepare the subscale rocket for an avionics test flight

Payload electronics soldered onto a perf board for testing

Gabe and Andrew perform an inflation test on the new red elliptical parachute

Nik and Carl showing off a machined aluminum bulkhead

Hands-on engineering experience is immensely valuable to the student experience. Our members are gaining technical, leadership, and teamwork skills that cannot be earned in the classroom. Cyclone Rocketry's mission is "To educate, challenge, and inspire Iowa State students, the greater community, and future generations about science and engineering, rocketry, and space exploration".

We are very grateful to the many donors who have contributed to our mission through this FundISU campaign. The generous response from our audience has impressed us all. With a few days remaining, we are again raising the campaign goal. #10Kfor10K

Thank you!
