High-Altitude Balloon Experiments in Technology
This team has been around since the 1990s and continues to research and develop new technology that allows us to better understand the different layers of our earth's sky.
In April, we will be traveling to Carbondale, Illinois, to test various instruments during the solar eclipse. With your generous contributions, we will be able to afford the travel and lodging costs that come with such an exciting event.
We are thankful and appreciative to all of our supporting donors, and look forward to the future ahead!
Why we need your support.
On April 8, 2024, the moon will begin to totally eclipse the sun at 1:59 PM CST and end a few hours later. Our group wishes to collect different data surrounding this astrological phenomena. We will be testing the effects of the shadow caused by the eclipse and how it impacts the local wildlife and the sounds they make. As well as recording live stream video footage from the balloon and broadcasting it to the NASA feed. The most expensive portion of our adventure will be getting there and staying in Illinois for a handful of days to prepare for the event, meet other scientists, and promote our group even more.
Thank you
The High-Altitude Balloon Team from Iowa State wants to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read more about our group. We hope we have inspired you to make a generous donation that will help support us in our data collection event during the April 2024 Total Eclipse in Illinois.
The name speaks for itself! This generous donation will go towards purchasing a priority system.
This generous donation will go towards the cost of a meal for our student engineers on the team.
Inflation! Bubbles! GPS's! This generous donation will go towards the equipment we use for our flights.
This generous donation will go towards topping off our transit van with gasoline that allows us and our equipment to get to our destination and back.
Engineers need to sleep, preferably not in the van! This generous donation will go towards hotel expenses while we are away on travel.
Latex turned into a 3000g high-altitude weather balloon! Who knew? This is our largest balloon in our arsenal. This generous donation will go towards the purchase of the balloon we launch during the eclipse.
This generous donation will help our group tremendously with funding our trip.
