Human Sciences Week 2017 takes place on October 2-6th! Human Sciences Week is a week of activities supported by the College of Human Sciences, and its purpose is to celebrate the College through a variety of academic, social, and philanthropic events catering to more than 5,000 students, faculty, and staff. We hope to commemorate the times we shared with students and faculty within the majors of Human Sciences. It is of importance to promote the college we so gladly identify with therefore we hold a week in order to honor the hard work and dedication of those who call themselves “Human Scientists”. This week will bring memories for years to come past our time at Iowa State. We have big dreams to make this week unforgettable, but we need your help to make it possible! Any amount would be greatly appreciated! Learn more at https://www.hs.iastate.edu/hs-week/.

EVENTS:
Lunch and Learn Series: where students gather for lunch and “get educated” in different areas of Human Sciences. This year’s Lunch & Learn consist of neuroscience on human health, living a balanced and healthy lifestyle, Study Abroad 101, TREND styling session, LGBTQA+ communication, and more.
Food & Fun Fest: Food & Fun Fest is an interactive way to promote programs, clubs, councils or departments to students and staff. HSW will provide the main dish and everyone else will come up with the food item to complement it or provide a "tailgate" themed game, for-sale item, or give away prize. It's a great way for some clubs to fundraise and everyone to receive overall awareness.
Participants involved: Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness, Collegiate 4-H, Culinary Science Club, Event Management Club, ExerCYse is Medicine Club, Extension & Outreach, Collegiate FCCLA, Family and Consumer Science Educators Club, Human Development & Family Studies Club, Health Promotion Club, Hospitality Department, Human Science Online & Distance Learning, Human Sciences Council, Iowa State University Education Association, I-LEAD, Pre-Physical Therapy Club, Student Dietetic Association, S.H.O.P., The Fashion Show, and TREND Magazine.
Philanthropy: This year's philanthropy, we will be partnering with Starts With Soap and ISU4U Promise to collect and pack supplies (pens, notebooks, stickers, books, etc.) for local teachers in need. Also, financial proceeds from our BBQ lunch will go towards United Way of Story County while non-perishable food items go the The S.H.O.P. food pantry.
