Be a part of the Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods work to end hunger and improve children’s education by contributing to the Kamuli District, Uganda school garden and lunch programs. Your support will help the Iowa State University - Uganda Program provide learning opportunities and nutritious meals to almost 3000 children on each school day. School gardens help children learn how to grow vegetables and fruits and produce eggs through poultry projects. These products are then enjoyed and valued in the school lunch. Improved school kitchens provide safe and sanitary conditions to prepare and serve the food.
Donations to this fund will help provide nutritious meals for children who otherwise would not receive a school lunch, and strengthen their foundation for learning skills to support their futures.
For the first $15,000 donated, every dollar you contribute will be matched 2:1 by a donor challenge group, which means every $1 you donate will total $3!
A gift at this level can help us purchase iodized salt for a school to add to the lunch and meet children’s iodine needs.
Your gift provides protein-rich dried beans for 1000 children per day. Thank you for your support for the Iowa State Uganda Program!
Your generous support will help us reach our goal of providing a lunch by supporting the salary of a school cook for two months.
Thank you for your generosity! Your gift will provide eggs to add protein to the school lunch for ~3000 children per day.
Help us grow the nutritious vegetables in each school’s garden. Your support provides vegetable seeds for a school garden for two growing seasons - an entire year!
Your investment will help make a school lunch a reality. With a gift of $500 or more, large custom fabricated stainless steel and sanitary cook pots and pans can be purchased to prepare the school lunch.
Your incredible gift will help install an energy efficient, well-ventilated wood stove in a school kitchen. Efficient stoves are critical in preparing lunches for as many as 1400 children per day, and children spend less time gathering fire wood.
