Over 350 people have contributed more than $83,000 to the Cyclone Strong Fund and ISU Food Pantry Support Fund! Thanks to your generosity approximately 50 students have received critical financial assistance, and several have shared how your support has made a profound impact:
“Thank you for your generous gift from the Cyclone Strong Fund. Through your donation, I have been able to continue working toward my academic goals that I left my family and my country in order to follow. You truly make the difference for me, and I am extremely grateful! I hope God provides an opportunity to be a donor like you in the future.”
“I would like to thank all the dear and respected donors for providing me with this opportunity. The emergency funding has helped a lot by relieving me from some financial burden. In these tough times, support from ISU and donors has been really helpful. Thank you for your support.”
“I am honored to be one of the recipients of the Cyclone Strong award. Thank you for your generous support! This will help me go through this uncertain situation caused by COVID-19. I am a graduate student in Civil Engineering, and both my fiance and I are suffering from this pandemic. My fiance even lost his job one month ago! We were so worried about the future until I found there was emergency funding for ISU students. Your kindness helped me realize the value of a college education and humanity. With your help, I believe I can focus on my studies and continue to work hard. I will always be grateful for this financial aid. In the future, I might have even more of an ability to help less fortunate and under-represented social groups! Thank you for enabling this opportunity!”
A new food pantry was opened in late March in the Union Drive Community Center as food insecurity emerged as an issue for many members of the ISU community. Funds from Cyclone Strong and the ISU Food Pantry Support Fund helped to provide essential grocery items and relief to students in need. Thanks to your support and generosity:
- The temporary food pantry serves approximately 150 people each day. Each person receives four full bags of grocery items, with close to 6,000 bags of groceries distributed to date.
- The food pantry has distributed:
- Over 8,500 pounds of fresh produce.
- Over 3,000 individual and packages of fresh baked goods such as loaves of bread, pitas and buns.
- Over 400 bakery kits that include flour, sugar, salt, corn starch, baking soda and baking powder.
Thank you again for making an impact and supporting the ISU community now and always! We are so grateful for your continued support and for helping us remain #CycloneStrong.
